How ECU remapping works on a petrol Volvo V70

Petrol engines are remapped by refining fuelling, ignition timing and, on turbocharged engines, boost control. Done carefully this releases performance the manufacturer left in reserve, giving sharper throttle response and a stronger top end.

Volvo V70 R 250 against other V70 engines

Among the 12 petrol V70 engines we have figures for, the R 250 ranks 9th for power gain, 3 bhp below the V70 petrol average of 42 bhp.

Across our whole catalogue the average petrol remap adds 27 bhp and 51 Nm, so this engine's 39 bhp and 95 Nm sits at or above that benchmark.
